Tch. Asst. Dr. Luka Horjak

Luka Horjak earned his bachelor’s degree (2016) and master’s degree (2018) in Slovenian and German Studies from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ljubljana. In 2026, he defended his doctoral dissertation in the field of phonetics and phonology of the Slovenian language. During his studies, he attended conferences, and in 2017 he participated in a phonological exchange program with the University of Toronto. He has twice received a scholarship from the Father Stanislav Škrabec Foundation.

Since November 2018, he has been employed as a teaching assistant for Slovene language in the Department of Slovenian Studies, where he teaches tutorials for most linguistics courses. He regularly attends domestic and international linguistics conferences. In November 2019, as part of a CEEPUS scholarship, he conducted research at the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Vienna, and in May 2022, as part of an Erasmus+ scholarship under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Marko Liker at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Zagreb, he underwent training in the use of ultrasound for researching speech articulation.

His fields of interest are phonetics, phonology, orthoepy, Slovenian and German history of language.
