Sociology of Visual Arts builds on a broad cross-section of familiarization with the institutional structures of different aesthetic and artistic practices in a historical and theoretical perspective. Entering the field of research of Fine Arts via notes by the authors as Vasari, Goethe, Wölfflin, Panofsky, Gombrich. Introduces a glossary of key concepts and analytical orientation to issues of representation and reproduction of social relations. Content complete the historical, anthropological and sociological aspects of the concept of art in relation to civilizational, ideological and social conditions. Lectures focus on issues of representation of the body, vision and traditions in the western tradition from the Renaissance to the present. Particular emphasis is placed on feminist critical depiction of passive female bodies and their connection to the concepts of voyeurism, fetishism and scopophylie. Representations of gender differences in visual imagery tradition of Western art and the concept of view / looking through the structures of power and control in the dominant social relations will be discussed from the perspective of feminist art theory.
