Students become acquainted with different prosodic features and their communicative functions in speech. They are introduced to the theory on communicative functions of English intonation developed by David Brazil, and apply it to different types of spoken situations (reading of a text, radio and TV reporting, telephone calls, public speaking and spontaneous everyday conversations). Students develop reading interpretation skills while observing the theoretical findings on communicative functions of intonation in English and Slovene.
