This course provides students with an overview of the history of art of the Early Modern Period. Geographically it covers the present-day Slovenian territory and the adjacent artistic centers. Art and architecture, including some key examples of arts and crafts, are presented in the wider cultural and historic context. Problems of iconography are also highlighted (considering the Reformation, Counter-Reformation, the impact of individual orders, genres, Ripa’s Iconologia, emblems, etc.. ), as well as questions of patronage, the migration of artists and their works, etc.
