Elective Seminar: Literature and the Arts

he seminar focuses on the works of world literature that belong to different literary currents, genres and subgenres and encompass various subject matters and perspectives through which literature is connected with broader cultural, philosophical, religious and other issues. In addition, a special emphasis is placed on the relationship between literature and other arts, especially between literature and visual arts as well as film. There we can speak about intermedial translation – translation between different art forms. Instead of on the philosophical, religious, scientific, political or other ideas in the pre-literary stage, intermedial comparison focuses on the art medium; on the “how” of literary and other art works and on the processes that lead to them.
